A Reiki
Attunement is a very special ceremony for those who wish to become a Reiki practitioner or to advance their level of Reiki,
where the ability to do Reiki is put into their hands by a Reiki Master. The chakras are aligned during the
process, allowing the ability to give energy to others and to yourself without losing any of your own energy.
Reiki I is considered to be the "awakening" where the ability to use Reiki is available whenever
you want it. Think of it as the Reiki Master flipping a switch allowing you to begin your journey as a practitioner. The attunement, Shoden in Japenese, transfers
approximately 20% power from Master to student. It takes three to four weeks to adjust to the attunement since
a cleansing process may begin, affecting the physical body as well as your mind and emotions. This occurs
when stored toxins are released along with feelings and thought patterns that are no longer useful. Keep in mind that
this does not occur for everyone, but if you do have this experience it is helpful to understand what is happening
so that you can support the completion. It would not be unusual to feel a little spacey or tingly, have more intense
dreams, or experience detoxification symptoms which could include diarrhea, running nose, or increased urination.
Note: regardless of these symptoms you will still feel well and the symptoms are merely the result
of the energy adjusting, increasing your capacity to channel the healing energy. Should your experieince be one with
no obvious symptoms be assured that the attunement was effective. I explain this to the student not so they can
be expecting any of these symptoms to occur, I explain it so that should they occur you will understand why. Most
people do not experience any disturbing symptoms. Relax and enjoy the process.
Using Reki healing on yourself daily will act to rebalance
the energy and decrease the sensations that may have resulted from the attunement process. This will also help to keep
your energy high and protect you.
Once you become attuned all you have to do
is think about Reiki and it will begin to flow. You will never lose your ability to do Reiki; you will always be able
to use healing energy to help all living things. If you don't use Reiki regularly your energy will not be very strong
and you will not be able to advance your level of Reiki.
There are many ways to use Reiki:
- Use
Reiki on yourself
- Use Reiki on plants
- Give Reiki to pets, but be careful since animals are very sensitive to energy and a little goes
a long way. Never force them!
- You can give Reiki to others,
with their permission, however, Reiki I practitioners should limit this to close friends and family members.
- You can even Reiki your food and your car.
At Hands of Ki Reiki all attunements are done on a one-on-one basis.
You will be the only student and will have the opportunity to ask questions, including those that you may not
have felt comfortable doing otherwise. The attunement is a personal experience which I feel should be honored as such
and the entire class will be geared to you in a relaxed and comfortable environment.
